The Power of Prayer

A few moments ago, a friend posted a prayer request on Twitter. The request was for one of their friends, whom I don't even know. I took a moment and prayed for a couple that I know very little about and have no relationship with. They are probably thousands of miles away from me and yet God may use my prayer to change their lives. How incredible!

I was waiting for Adam the other day and he was running late. I was becoming frustrated, so I stopped to pray for him. I was still frustrated, but I didn't fuss or overreact when he arrived. He apologized and we were able to laugh and move on. I wish I could say that I've made a habit of this with any situation where I might get frustrated, but that would just be untrue. I'm working on it :)

When I was in middle school, Rachel Schelb (she was a New then) encouraged me to begin a prayer journal. She said that I should talk to God like a real person and that I should tell him how I was feeling, even if I was feeling angry or bitter. Now I'm in college and I still use a prayer journal. From asking wisdom about where I should attend college to praying for wisdom as I graduate in May and from praying for "whoever my future husband will be" to praying for Adam, my prayers have changed in many ways. But I've learned to talk to God more and I've learned that I can be myself with Him. He knows me better than anyone else.

I could go on and on about the power of prayer and how good God is. I just wanted to give a couple of quick reminders about how prayer is amazing and how it sometimes works in unexpected ways.
